I made many small drawings for many many pages.

A bikepacking trip to the Black Forest and a campsite along the Feldsee lake are the inspirations for this drawing.

For The Long Cut Store - a new range of sustainable clothing - 2021

This is the story of a shepherd who planted 100 trees a day for 30 years - transforming a desolate land into a thriving forested community. Elzeard’s forest saw the returning of people and animals, the arriving of gentle and aromatic breezes, springs, rivers, hope and laughter. It’s a story of a love for trees and nature, and most of all how small acts can create great change.

This drawing was commissioned by a teacher to gift to his graduating students, and is inspired by the story by Jean Giono, “The Man Who Planted Trees” - 2021

The second in a series of drawings for a geography teacher, who presents a drawing to his graduating Yr 12 class.

This artwork speaks to light, resilience and cultivating a happy life. Central to the drawing are its lighthouses - always shining their light even in difficult times.

Lots of humans do this as well - showing generosity during hard times. Small gestures and kindness can be the light that helps others to navigate their way through stormy waters. Taking care of others, and also believing in yourself to follow your dreams and ambitions builds happy people and communities - 2022

This drawing is inspired by a man who moved hundreds of plants and trees from his Mum’s old house to her new one, just so she wouldn’t feel too homesick for the old place - which was the only place she had ever lived.

A message for all Muslim women out there - after there were reports that they were targeted while taking trains in Melbourne

Some of the frustration felt of being trapped in a city and really wanting to be somewhere else.

It’s such a clever concept - it gives the impression of weightlessness. The reality is that our data is stored in sprawling suburbs of warehouses. So big that if they were a country it would rank third behind the USA and China as the largest energy consumers on our planet. We pay a big price for all of the rubbish we post online.

This one spins fine cotton to make clouds - those high level wisps that my Dad calls mare’s tails. Often a sign of bad weather on the way.

Giant reeds stretch to the light, wrapped in spun green. Bubbles rise from below. Satellite green furry clumps float, and speckles of illuminated white rest on the bottom. Like Pearl! A saw flowers, a short finned eel, common galaxias. This is a world of wonder, a world out of this world. A secret world.

Jane and I slip on our wheeled boots and tie the laces. Double knot.

Palms down, rubber stopper to timber. Deep breaths. A last inhale and we are off!

The wool shed transforms to roller skating rink and our wheels clatter across the uneven timber floor. We giggle at the thrill of rolling out of control. When we pause to take a breath we hear sheep bleating in the distance - eating and talking as they grow their coat for next year’s big shear.

The transceiver radio crackles - its sound sparking into our world and straining beyond it’s parameters to connect with us. In response, our small bodies lean into it, willing the connection to stick. The crackle feels as if we are being tethered to a world existing at the farthest reaches, and in some ways it was that way.

I press the button on the side of the hand piece with my thumb, and from hundreds of km’s apart we all chime like synchronised clocks…..

A swim with two swans, many cormorants and a pelican that flew overheard. On the way back, a single floating white feather. At the sandy flat, a few dives. I overheard some ladies talking of seahorses. I saw none of those, but instead flashes of tiny silver fish. No bigger than a small toe.

On the way home my skin tingled, twinkled.

This is the story of a man who went to Morocco to study snails. He falls in love with an old Jewish house in the Mellah. The Mellah is collapsing around him, and there is so much rubble here they once made a movie in this place about Syria. He fastidiously renovates his crumbling house back to it’s original glory - it rises stories above the ground and I think to myself he is building his own snail house.

Abdul Salam has made mint tea in his tiny shop for most of his adult life. On frosty mornings he gives gifts of hot boiled eggs with his steaming mint tea. When asked if there was anything that he wished for in his life Abdul’s answer was that he wished he could have owned a car so that he could have had the chance to visit other places.

My friend says that a man who tames birds is a magician of sorts. Every morning this bird man meticulously builds a tower of songs outside his tiny shop. Next door is the shop of spells but it seems a bit less magic than the bird place.

Next to the street where buttons are made is the old Mellah - a beautiful decaying collection of old Jewish buildings. The street dogs love to lay around here - it’s where the sun gets in. And a man who came to Morocco to study snails fastidiously renovates a house on its last legs - it rises stories above the ground and I think to myself he is building his own snail house. While everything changes in the old Mellah things stay the same in its communal oven - the sound of bread and the shuk shuk of roasted chickpeas adds it’s musical note to this old place.
