164 kilometres across the MacDonnell ranges by foot
…………………….
In 2019 and Alex, Marty and Jeremy set out to walk the MacDonnell Ranges in the Northern Territory.
We had made an adventure together before but not on foot. Last time it had been on two wheels, after our paths had intersected in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The three of us where on epic eastward bound bicycle adventures, but would ride only 26km together.
In the MacDonnell ranges we spent 14 days walking 164 kms. We found a comfortable rhythm and we stuck together through sickness and in health.
My senses worked overtime, and my hands and head drew ferociously in my Larapinta Diary. These are a selection of those pages.
Weight counts for everything on long walks (or so I am told). My drawing materials - a moleskin drawing book, watercolour set and pens weighed about 400grams. That’s also the weight of about 4 dehydrated meals. But regardess of the weight I would count drawing tools an essential part of any adventure kit.
